Olympic champions featured in three of the six title-winning crews at the GB Rowing Team Senior Trials at Caversham today in a finals racing session full of exciting finishes.

The much awaited contest between single scullers Charles Cousins and Alan Campbell, though, fell flat when Campbell was disqualified for attracting two yellow cards - one for arriving late at the start and the second for a false start.

World Junior Champion Jess Leyden and Youth Olympic medallist Jack Beaumont are into the semi-finals of the open women's and men's single sculls at the GB Rowing Team Trials at the expense of more senior, experienced internationals.

Beaumont was involved in a tense tussle to the line with senior squad member Jonny Walton and pipped him in the final 15 strokes to take third place and qualify in a race won comfortably by Leander Club's Charles Cousins.

Olympic gold medallist Kat Copeland made an impressive return today by winning the lightweight women's single scull time trial at the GB Rowing Team Senior Team Trials today.

Semi-finals of the Trials are this afternoon with finals due to start at 5pm.
